Plashet School Ofsted Report
When inspected by OFSTED in 2005 and again in March 2008 we were graded as outstanding – one of the very best schools in the country and included in OFSTED’s 2009 “Twelve outstanding secondary schools – Excelling against the odds” report. In 2008 our inspector commented “Plashet is a happy and harmonious place” and “Students’ achievement is outstanding because GCSE results are very high compared with the national average”.
OFSTED visited again in November 2009 to undertake a survey inspection into the impact the links between our parents/carers and our school have on supporting and encouraging the achievement, well-being and personal development of our girls. They found the overall effectiveness of our engagement with parents and carers to be outstanding.
I am extremely proud of the achievements of the school, its staff, and the students, and their commitment as we continue on our journey to be the best school that we can be.
In October 2011, Ofsted launched Parent View, which is a facility for parents to give their views about their child’s school. Parent View allows parents and carers to give their views about their child’s school at any time of the year. It features questions that cover a range of issues important to parents, such as how well the school deals with bullying, the quality of teaching, whether the level of homework given is appropriate and a final question of whether or not a parent would recommend the school. Once a number of surveys are completed, the results for the school are visible in Parent View although individual responses are not.
Ofsted analyses the responses given by parents. Many parents who are happy with their child’s school use Parent View to share their satisfaction or to show their support for the school. Where large numbers of survey results are critical of a school, inspectors will look at the information alongside other data, such as examination results, attendance records and complaint levels, to make a decision about whether or when to inspect the school.
The survey is not designed to receive complaints about schools. Parents who wish to make a complaint or have a serious concern about their child’s school or about the safety or wellbeing of a child can find more information on the complaints page of our website.
If you are a parent or carer you simply need your email address and a password to register on the Parent View website at: http://parentview.ofsted.gov.uk. Once your login has been activated it only takes a few minutes to complete the questions.
