Our School will close at 12.30pm on the following dates:

Wednesday 8th March 2023 – Year 9
Thursday 23rd March 2023 – Year 7

Dear Plashet students, parents and carers,

Tomorrow, Wednesday 14th December, is a normal school day.

Students should arrive at school for 8.45am and will leave at the normal time of 3.35pm.

Given pavements in the local area remain icy students are permitted to wear footwear with good grip such as trainers, wellingtons or boots.

With warm regards,

Mrs Rachel McGowan
Head Teacher
Plashet School

Today, Mrs McGowan was accompanied by three of our Student Leadership Team to sign the Book of Condolence at East Ham Library.

Zhara, our Head Girl, and Isha and Tara, both Deputy Head Girls signed on behalf of all the students at Plashet School.

It is our sincere hope that you are able to find a moment of quiet reflection on the upcoming Bank Holiday on Monday 19th September.

Dear students, parents and carers,

The news this evening that Queen Elizabeth II has passed away is extremely sad and I am sure that your thoughts and prayers like mine are with her family at this difficult time.

However, Plashet is open tomorrow.

All students are expected to be in school for registration as normal.

When Buckingham Palace announces details of her majesty’s state funeral we will know more about whether schools will close as a mark of respect. This decision will be taken at a national level. I will update you all once I know more.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs McGowan
Headteacher

We will be closing at 12.30 pm on Tuesday 19th July 2022 and opening again on Monday 5th September 2022.

All students are aware that they can wear non-uniform on Tuesday 19th July and that £1 contributions to our charity drive for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Rewilding Britain and Supporting Humanity can be made between Monday 11th July and Monday 18th July via our online payment portal, ParentMail.

We wish all our students and their families a restful break and look forward to seeing Years 7 to 11 on site again on Monday 5th September.

Current Year 11 will be on site for GCSE Results Day on Thursday 25th August.

On Thursday 30th June, Years 7 – 10 will be participating in our Sports Day at The Terence McMillan Stadium. Students should make their own way to the venue for a 8.50am start.

Students will need plenty of water, snacks and a hat/sunscreen in case of hot weather.

We will be finishing at approximately 12.30pm. Please be advised that the car park will be very congested, so we advise all parents/carers to make alternative arrangements to collect their daughter.

Should there be inclement weather, we will publish on our website and our Twitter account along with emailing families.

Cashless Catering

We are introducing a cashless payment system with Online Payments using IRIS ParentMail. You can use Online Payments to pay for school lunches, school educational visits, textbooks/revision guides you may wish to purchase and other items using your smartphone, tablet, or computer.

With Online Payments you can:
Top up your daughter’s lunch money account electronically using credit or debit cards, PayPal, or PayPoint.
Receive automatic reminders when your daughter’s lunch money account balance is running low.

If you have an Android or Apple smartphone, we recommend you download the free IRIS ParentMail App so you can make payments on the go. Just search for IRIS ParentMail in your App store.

We would like you to logon to ParentMail and deposit some money on the account for your child before half term holidays.

In order to ensure a smooth transition to cashless catering, each year will move to cashless catering as per the schedule below:

  • Monday 1st November: Year 10
  • Monday 8th November: Years 9 & 11
  • Monday 15th November: Years 7 & 8

You will need to be registered with IRIS ParentMail and have lunch money deposited beforehand to enable your daughter to pay for school lunches. If your daughter receives free school meals she will receive a daily allowance to enable her to obtain her lunch using the same cashless system.

Your bank statement will display either the school name or IRIS ParentMail, depending on your payment method. If you need any additional information or assistance, please visit our help centre www.parentmail.co.uk/help/parenthelp/

Please see the ‘Parent Welcome Pack’ here which will guide you to logging on to your account and resetting passwords.

Those parents/carers who have logged on/downloaded ParentMail in the past please make sure you are still able to login. If you have forgotten your password the attached pack will guide you on how to reset this.

For those parents/carers who have never used ParentMail, you will have received an email with your registration link on Friday 24th September 2021. Please follow the attached guide to help get you started.

If you have not received the email from ParentMail on Friday please check your Spam/Junk folder in your email. Note this email will only be for new registrations not existing users.

If you have not received a registration email and you have checked that it is not in your Spam/Junk mailbox, please email: cashless@plashet.newham.sch.uk with your child’s Full name and form group along with your name and relationship to the child i.e. Mum/Dad with your mobile number. Plashet administrative staff will then check to see if your email address is registered with us and if not update this and resend the verification email.

Any queries should be directed to the School’s Business Manager, Mr S Heys.

Dear Parents/Carers

Please find guidance regarding our Remote Education provision here:

Remote Education Provision_ Information for Parents

Plashet Update 31.12.20

Dear Plashet parents, carers and girls,

The Secretary of State for Education, Gavin Williamson, yesterday announced new plans to protect education and fight the virus. With case and death rates rising across the country, the government is now applying the contingency framework for education and pushing back the staggered return for secondary schools by one week.

This is how the next few weeks will work at Plashet:

1. Learning will take place online for all year groups in the week beginning Monday 4th January. Students should follow their timetables (it is a Week B) and log-on to Google Classroom. If students are not interacting with online lesson resources and not completing what is expected, parents/carers will be contacted.

2. In the week beginning Monday 11th January, students in Year 11 will be required to attend school as usual. Years 7 to 10 will have a second week of online learning.

3. School will resume as normal for all year groups on Monday 18th January 2021. However, this is subject to review of the Contingency Framework by the government which will happen, I am told, prior to 18th January.

4. We will have a small amount of on-site provision in operation for some eligible students if their parents/carers wish them to be in school because they can not be safely cared for at home. This on-site provision will be for those students who have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP), those students who are looked after, those students who have a designated social worker and any student who has a parent who is a key worker that can not safely study at home. If your daughter is in any of these categories please email info@plashet.newham.sch.uk by Friday 1st January at the latest to request an on-site place. It is important that you state what your job is and who you work for please if you are a key worker.

5. For all students in receipt of free school meals we will issue a evoucher for the week beginning Monday 4th January via our provider Wonde to parents as we have done previously. For those students in Years 7 to 10 another voucher will be issued for the week beginning 11th January.

It is worth emphasising that these decisions follow on from the latest government guidance. This remains subject to change at very short notice, and so these are in effect provisional arrangements. If there are any further changes I will update you.

I wish you all a safe end to 2020 and feel we must all look forward into 2021 with hope and positivity.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs Rachel McGowan
